Ellis Island has got 12 million immigrants in the United States. Those people who are not considered fit or are unable to follow the rules set by the authorities are deported back to their origins and the countries they are from. It is in these corridors of Ellis, abandoned for over 60 years, where the entire setting of this short takes place. With the help of the photographs of that time, Robert De Niro rambles to tell the story of so many men, women and children.
The viewer sees everything Robert De Niro wants us to see, the halls, broken windows, images of people who suffered there. Lives that entered the island and of those who were deported back.
Many people won’t realise how artistic this whole setting is, just under 15 minutes of runtime and the story of so many people and their traces, passing through the island like a never ending story.
